process. it can be a tough question with no satisfactory way to resolve the issue. it makes me crazy. i do not generally want how i do something to be a part of what i make. on the other hand, i can’t get away from it because it is a big consideration of how i create. a big part of my phd research is the integration of all photo techniques and technologies into one whole, all equally accepted and understood simply as - photography. but still… sculptors choose their materials for a reason - wood, stone, or metal; painters their paints. how is photography any different in that way?.. other than the lines drawn that keeps everyone safely in their little lane where none shall ever mix or mingle… so, for lack of a better way to approach this (perhaps more accurately a lack of enthusiasm in trying to figure out the better way to approach this) here are a some pages that highlight my image making and printing processes. (likely with a lot of overlap… prepare to see the same thing made in different ways) below i present samples of gum bichromate, salted paper, and my home made pinhole camera (which i shoot almost exclusively with these days). pages coming soon
